Where: Sörängen, Kvarsta 534, 74047 Harbo, Sweden
Markus Andersson is a well-known figure in Sweden’s artistic community. This marks his first exhibition in Norway in 16 years, showcasing six breathtaking art pieces. An acclaimed Swedish artist and art instructor, Markus Andersson is renowned for his traditional Nordic style and his exceptional ability to capture the inherent beauty of animals, nature, and people in his paintings. Through the composition of his artwork and the nuances of tones and colors, he adeptly conveys profound truths about our existence, evoking a sense of longing in the observer.
Born in 1968, Andersson received his education at Konstskolan Idun Lovén and Heatherley School of Fine Art. He has been mentored by the esteemed Norwegian artist Odd Nerdrum and runs his own art gallery, Galleri Sörängen, situated near Uppsala. In 2003, he was honored with the Magnus Laurentius Medici award in the painting category at the Florence Biennale.
Andersson primarily works with oil and watercolor, and his artwork has graced prestigious venues like Moderna museet, Louvre, and the Florence Biennale. His art is also showcased at Sweden’s Embassy in Tallinn and the Swedish St. Michael’s Church in Tallinn.
On January 21st of this year, he exhibited 7 works at our Vargtid exhibition in Oslo.
Summer Course
The course will take place over three full days at the Sörängen estate, near Harbo, where Markus Andersson has his studio and Galleri Sörängen.
We will be working from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM, with a one-hour lunch break and coffee breaks. Lunch and refreshments are provided.
Participants can choose their preferred painting materials, and we primarily paint outdoors amidst the beautiful surroundings of the estate. Some instruction will take place indoors; in case of inclement weather, we’ll move indoors, but we aim to spend as much time outside as possible.
Materials are not included. Participants are responsible for bringing their own materials. Some basic materials will be available for purchase at cost. For beginners, there will be simple materials available for borrowing to try out and get started. Easels, tables, and chairs are provided on-site.
We offer accommodation in a newly renovated neighboring cottage, complete with a fully equipped kitchen, toilet, shower, sauna, and barbecue area. Two single rooms are available at 250 Swedish kronor per night each, and one double room is available for 400 Swedish kronor per night (meaning 200 Swedish kronor per person if two people share), providing a total of four sleeping spots.
In your registration, please specify which course dates you wish to attend, provide your name and address, and include your contact information. Please also indicate if you’d like to rent a room for accommodation. Registration is binding.
Price: 2200 Swedish kronor per person for the course, spanning 3 days, (or 750 Swedish kronor per day if you don’t wish to attend all days).
A wonderful lunch featuring farm-fresh ingredients, as well as snacks, are included. For the ninth consecutive year, we are delighted to invite you to our highly regarded summer painting course!
